Why I Decided to be a Duct Tape Marketing Coach

Duct Tape Marketing CoachAfter my post a last week about my New Grand Adventure, I have had a few people ask me why become a Duct Tape Marketing Coach? Going on the assumption that there might be a few more regular readers wondering the same thing, I thought I would explain.

As I have been blogging and twittering about sales, marketing, and social media I have become more and more interested in the plight of many small business owners. They are truly the driving force behind our economy. Many have struggled mightily during the last couple of years just to stay in business. They have watched multiple swirling events changing the way business is conducted. Marketing, in particular, has changed to the point that many old-timers hardly even recognize it today. Small businesses aren’t sure whether they should tweet, jump on facebook, get linkedin, digg, or just wait it out as a passing fad.

As I have surveyed many web sites and talked to numerous small business owners it has become clear that many are looking for some sensible direction. They are leery of jumping on the shiny new object of the week, only to find out there is another one next week.

When I began reading John Jantsch’s book, Duct Tape Marketing, I found something that made a tremendous amount of sense. Some of what he detailed paralleled my own experience in senior management with two small companies. His proposed solutions and 7 Steps to Small Business Marketing Success were spot on. When I discovered that he was looking for companies and individuals to embrace his system and coach others in it, I knew this was something I wanted to do.

About 5 months ago I did a blog series on Integrated Lead Generation (review it by clicking on that category on the side bar). That series led to the idea for my business – Integrated LeadGen Results. Incorporating the Duct Tape Marketing System into that business platform gives me the perfect vehicle to do what I enjoy doing. Helping others to succeed and fulfill their dreams.

On Wednesday I leave for 2 1/2 days in Kansas City to meet with John Jantsch and his team and immerse myself in the Duct Tape Marketing System. It might be colder than what I’m used to here in So. Calif., but I am excited about my New Grand Adventure. Please be sure and pass this on someone you know who owns a small business and would like solid, simple, affordable, and effective marketing help to grow their company.

That’s the end of my self-promotion. I will continue to blog here on the issues that pertain to sales, marketing, and social media in general. I will blog more specifically about Integrated Lead Generation and Duct Tape Marketing at my Integrated LeadGen Results site. Take your pick, or better yet, subscribe to both!
