Since a good part of my business is related to online search I always find it fascinating what people enter into those little search boxes.  There are numerous tools available to find out this information, but the folks at Ask.com have been kind enough to give us a few year-end lists.  I’m not usually a big fan of these year-end sort of lists, but see if you don’t find these at least a little interesting – even without my snarky comments.

Top 10 Search Questions for 2009

  1. How much should I weigh?  (This was #1???  Really?)
  2. How do I get out of debt fast?  (No that wasn’t anyone from Congress or the White House)
  3. How do I get pregnant?  (Enter your own punch line)
  4. What is Twitter?  (Someone living under a rock maybe)
  5. What is Miley Cyrus’ phone number?  (I think you need to ask her dad)
  6. What is the meaning of life?  (Let me know when you find that answer)
  7. When will the world end?  (2012 according to Hollywood)
  8. How long does marijuana stay in your system?  (Until you get caught)
  9. What are the symptoms of Swine Flu?  (similar to regular flu)
  10. What time is it?  (seriously?)

Hey, maybe I could moonlight answering questions for Ask.com.

  1. How do I make a website?  (Buy a domain, software, and a book and have at it)
  2. What does URL stand for?  (Nothing, letters don’t stand; but they do have meaning)
  3. How do I find my IP address?  (Check the Yellow Pages, if you still have them)
  4. What is an RSS feed?  (I think it’s turtle food, but I’m not sure)
  5. How many megabytes are in a gigabyte?  (A whole bunch)
  6. How do I delete my cookies?  (If they’re chocolate chip I’ll take them)
  7. What is JavaScript?  (Handwriting after drinking a lot of coffee)
  8. What does FTP stand for?  (Same answer at #2)
  9. What is a 3G network?  (One better than a 2G)
  10. What is a PDF file?  (Sorry, I’m all out of snippy answers)

There were more lists, but I thought I would spare you any further nonsense.  But, you gotta admit some of these are pretty entertaining all on their own.  If you come across any more silly end-of-year lists pass them on and maybe I’ll do another post and mention yours.
