This is something they do every six months and it gives a good snapshot of where people are communicating and doing business. Make no mistake, if you aren’t at least listening in on the conversations you are losing out on very valuable information. Information regarding your industry, your competitors, and your potential customers is exchanged via social media every minute of every day.

I have written in the past about the importance of developing a “buyer persona” that incorporates as much as possible about your typical customer. The persona should include demographic, geographic, psychographic, and behavioral information about that company and your persona.
Looking Back to See Forward
No, this is not another Top 10 list of anything. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty tired of seeing those. I know that they sometimes have some interesting insights, but enough already!
As a history buff I do know that there is value in looking back and learning from the past. The old axiom of hindsight being 20/20 is often very true. And, as technology advances ever faster it becomes more difficult to take a breath and review anything.

In order to be done well it requires the support of the President/CEO/Owner – whatever title the head person carries – and for sales and marketing to be aligned. Provided your company separates those two functions. If not, that becomes a little easier – you just have to agree with the boss and yourself.
