What we do at Marketo (since there is not a single path to lead success) is pay close attention to the lead sources that are turning to sales and then focus our lead generation on those efforts. We then use lead nurturing to educate leads so that when they are ready to buy they remember us, and trust that we care about what we do, since the prospect has seen all the content that we have taken great labors to produce. If your product is truly the best, you want to have an educated prospect so they understand the value of your product.
